How It Works:
When groundwater containing iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) is treated, either through aeration or by adding an oxidizing agent, the iron (manganese) ions in the water are oxidized. The water then flows through a manganese sand filter, where contact with the filter surface leads to oxidation, biochemical and physical adsorption, and interception. This process causes the iron (manganese) ions to precipitate and be removed from the water. This method is particularly effective in treating micro-polluted groundwater containing manganese, iron, and manganese bacteria. It not only removes these contaminants efficiently but also utilizes ammonia as a nutrient source for water metabolism. With the participation of other bacteria, it achieves the desired effect of ammonia removal.
