When iron and manganese are present in your water, please inform us about the concentration of iron and manganese. The test result will indicate these levels.
According to the WHO standards, the maximum allowable concentrations for iron and manganese are as follows:
If the iron concentration is less than 2.0 mg/L and the manganese concentration is less than 2.0 mg/L, the suggested treatment method is aeration using a blast pump or air compressor. If the pH of the water is low, it should be adjusted. A single iron removal filter can be used.
If the iron concentration is 5 mg/L or higher and the manganese concentration is 1.5 mg/L or higher, the recommended treatment method is aeration followed by a double iron removal filter. The first filter removes iron, while the second filter removes manganese.
If the iron concentration is 10 mg/L or higher and the manganese concentration is 2 mg/L or higher, and the pH of the well water is above 5.5, it is necessary to discuss the situation with an engineer to customize the design.
The suggested treatment process is as follows:
Aeration iron removal is currently the most mature and cost-effective method for removing iron and manganese. It involves building an aeration tank and using an aeration blower to oxidize the ferrous iron in the water to ferric iron. The ferric iron is then precipitated and removed by a manganese sand filter. Finally, an activated carbon filter is used to remove color and meet the product water requirements.
