The water then flows through a manganese sand filter, where contact with the filter surface leads to oxidation, biochemical and physical adsorption, and interception. This results in the precipitation and removal of iron (manganese) ions from the water. This method is particularly effective in treating micro-polluted groundwater containing manganese and iron, as it not only removes manganese and iron bacteria but also utilizes ammonia as a nutrient source for water metabolism. Other bacteria participate in the process, achieving the desired ammonia effect.
